How to find an in-network provider

Booking matches new patients with an in-network provider who is licensed in your state and can offer the care you need. Use provider search if you want a certain gender, language, or provider type.

This article explains who you are matched with, and how to look for a specific provider.

Who you are matched with

If you are a new patient, booking matches you with a provider who:

  • Is in network with your insurance, if you want to use insurance

  • Is licensed in the state where you are located

  • Can offer the care you are looking for

If you are paying for yourself, you can book without adding insurance. You will still see providers who are licensed in your state and can offer the care you need.

State rules can also change which providers can prescribe controlled substances, and where we can offer gender-affirming hormone therapy. Those rules are in State requirements for prescribing controlled substances.

If you want a specific kind of provider

The matched list is based on your insurance, your state, and the care you need. It does not filter by personal preference.

If you want a provider of a certain gender, who speaks a certain language, or is certain provider type (for example, a doctor or a nurse practitioner), start with provider search. There you can:

  • Find providers who match those preferences

  • Read each provider's bio

  • See their credentials, such as MD, NP, or PA

Why do I see limited appointment availability?

You may see fewer times or providers when:

  • Demand is high in your state

  • Your insurance has a smaller network of providers

If your usual provider has no openings, you can book with another available provider who can see your medical history.

Why don't I see any in-person appointment types?

  • Location limits in San Francisco. In-person annual check-ups and standards appointments are only offered at our San Francisco location. Other locations are reserved for in-person ADHD follow-up appointments.

  • Availability and insurance. The clinic may be fully booked, or it may not have an in-network provider at that location.
