When is an in-person ADHD follow-up needed?
Rules for prescribing a controlled substance by video are not the same in every state. Your state may require an in-person appointment before your provider prescribes one, or after prescribing has started. Your provider tells you whether you need one, and when.
New Jersey has its own rules. See How ADHD medication and care works in New Jersey.
After you have been seen in person, you may be able to continue video appointments with the same provider, for as long as that stays clinically appropriate and your state allows it.
I am an established patient. Do I book this or start over?
If it has been a year or more since your last completed appointment, which appointment to book is in Which ADHD appointment to book. If you are continuing care and your state requires an in-person appointment, book an In-person ADHD follow-up.
What happens at the appointment?
The appointment is 15 minutes. Your provider reviews your medical history, current symptoms, and vitals to confirm if any changes are needed to your treatment. They may perform a brief physical exam as well.
Can I see a different provider than my primary care provider?
Book with the provider you completed the intake process with when you can. Some providers do not offer in-person appointments in your state. If you see someone else, you may need to continue follow-ups with them. See our locations and How ADHD medication and care works in New Jersey.
Can I add other health concerns to this appointment?
No. An In-person ADHD follow-up cannot be combined with other health concerns. Book a separate video appointment for those.
How much does it cost?
Self-pay prices are in Appointment costs. If you use insurance, your plan decides what you owe.
Why don't I see a time with my provider?
Your provider may not be available for in-person appointments, or there may be no clinic in your state. See our locations. Check the mobile app or web portal for availability, because calendars change.
