How do I become an established ADHD patient?

You become an established ADHD patient when you receive an ADHD diagnosis through Circle Medical. A new patient seeking ADHD care does that by completing the three appointments in order. Outside New Jersey, those are the ADHD Initial intake appointment, the ADHD Comprehensive health assessment, and ADHD Diagnosis and treatment. In New Jersey, the third appointment is an in-person appointment. See How ADHD medication and care works in New Jersey.

I was diagnosed with ADHD at another clinic. Which appointment do I book?

Book an ADHD Initial intake appointment. A diagnosis from another clinic, provider, or facility does not replace the three appointments. A controlled substance can be considered as a treatment plan only after those appointments are complete.

Which appointment do I book if it has been more than 1 year?

If it has been more than 1 year since your last completed appointment with Circle Medical, book an ADHD Initial intake appointment. This applies if you completed the ADHD evaluation process in the past, and if you started the diagnostic process and then stopped mid-way.

Because you have not had an appointment in the past year, you restart with the intake. It confirms your current health information and whether anything has changed. What to expect is in How your ADHD initial intake appointment works.

Do I have to do the three appointments again?

If it has been more than 1 year since your last completed appointment with us, the standard path is to complete the three appointments again before ADHD treatment resumes. Your provider makes the final decision based on your clinical needs.

How do I resume if my last appointment was 1 year ago or less?

If you have had any completed appointment in the past year, and you have not finished the diagnostic process, book the next appointment:

  • After the ADHD Initial intake appointment, book the ADHD Comprehensive health assessment

  • After the ADHD Comprehensive health assessment, book ADHD Diagnosis and treatment

  • After ADHD Diagnosis and treatment, book an ADHD Follow-up

Providers have the right to exercise their clinical judgement and ask you to restart the ADHD diagnostic process.

I am already treated for ADHD at Circle Medical. Do I start over?

If you have had any completed appointment in the past year, book an "ADHD Follow-up". State rules for controlled substances may still require an in-person appointment. See How in-person ADHD follow-up appointments work.

If it has been more than 1 year, use the restart section above.

Can I book more than one ADHD appointment on the same day?

No. You can book only one appointment a day. Most insurance will not cover multiple appointments within the same day. You can book the next ADHD appointment for a later day whenever you are ready.

How much does each appointment cost?

Self-pay prices are in Appointment costs. If you use insurance, your plan decides what you owe.

Are the three diagnostic appointments by video?

The ADHD Initial intake appointment and the ADHD Comprehensive health assessment are video appointments. The third appointment, ADHD Diagnosis and treatment, is a video appointment, except in New Jersey, where it is in person. See How ADHD medication and care works in New Jersey.

Can I do an ADHD follow-up in person?

Why can't I see the ADHD Follow-up appointment type when I book?

That appointment type appears after you have finished the diagnostic process and you are an established ADHD patient.

How do I book an ADHD follow-up?

When you are an established ADHD patient that has completed all 3 intake appointments, and your last completed appointment was 1 year ago or less, select ADHD Follow-up. How often to book is in How ADHD follow-up appointments work.

Can I get a prescription that matches my treatment plan from another provider?

No. A controlled substance prescription that continues a plan from another provider or clinical is not written before the three appointments are complete.

Can I book a Comprehensive health assessment if I am not in the ADHD process?

No. The ADHD Comprehensive health assessment appears after you complete the ADHD Initial intake appointment. For a general health review, book an annual checkup (annual wellness exam).

If you are unsure which appointment to book for a concern that is not ADHD, see Finding the right appointment type.
