When you add or update your insurance, or when you book, we check it with your insurance. The status on your screen is the result of that check. Match the title you see to the table below.

When we check your insurance
If you are booking, we check your coverage for the appointment date.
If you add or update your insurance in the app or web portal without booking, we check your coverage as of that day.
A status can change later. Your plan can end if you switch insurance, if a premium is not paid, or because of another change your insurance makes. Keeping the plan on your account up to date prevents a billing problem. See How to add, update, or remove your insurance.
What does my insurance status mean?
Status on your screen | What to do |
Active | Your plan verified. Upcoming appointments are billed to this insurance. You can get a free cost estimate before you book, and you may also see one while you book. |
Slow to respond | We didn't get a response from your insurance, so we couldn't confirm your coverage. The screen may also say Verification in progress, Trouble verifying plan, or Coverage information unavailable.
You can book. We check your coverage before the appointment and contact you if we need anything. A free cost estimate may be missing until your insurance responds. See Understanding your insurance benefits and what you might owe. |
Incorrect date of birth | See Fix a details mismatch. |
Incorrect member ID | See Fix a details mismatch. |
Old member ID | The member ID matches an older ID. See Fix a details mismatch. |
Incorrect name | See Fix a details mismatch. |
Could not find a match | We could not find you in your insurance's records. Remove the plan and add it again, making sure your information matches what is on file with your insurance. |
Plan is inactive | Your insurance shows this plan is inactive or has ended. Add a different plan, or remove it and book at the self-pay price. See Appointment costs. |
Plan hasn't started | Your insurance shows a start date in the future. Add it again after that date, or use a different plan. |
Plan not accepted | We are out of network with this plan in your state. You can book at the self-pay price. We add plans regularly, so you can check back. See What insurance plans is Circle Medical in-network with? and Appointment costs. |
Out of network | We are not in network with this insurance yet. You can book at the self-pay price. See What insurance plans is Circle Medical in-network with? and Appointment costs. |
Your plan needs a referral | This is an HMO. You need a referral from your primary care provider. See How to get your HMO referral or student health plan authorization. |
Medicaid not accepted | Unfortunately, we're unable to see patients who are eligible for Medicaid, even if you'd prefer to self-pay or have other insurance. See Does Circle Medical accept Medicaid? |
Service not covered | Your insurance shows that this plan does not cover these appointments. Add another plan, or book at the self-pay price. See Appointment costs. |
Fix a details mismatch
Use this when the status is Incorrect date of birth, Incorrect member ID, Old member ID, or Incorrect name. The screen title is "We couldn't verify your insurance."
Compare the member ID with your card, one character at a time.
Check that the legal name and date of birth on your account match your insurance card, including a middle initial. To change them, see How to update your name, email, phone, date of birth, or home address.
Select Verify insurance again.
Why don't I see any providers who accept my plan?
Your insurance may be active, and no provider who works with your plan is available. We may not have a provider for your plan in your state yet, or those providers may be fully booked.
Check back soon. We add providers to insurance networks regularly. See How to find an in-network provider.
Ask your insurance whether you have out-of-network benefits. If you do, you can book at the self-pay price and ask for an itemized bill afterward. See How to get an itemized bill (superbill) for reimbursement.
Book at the self-pay price. See Appointment costs.
Why is my cost estimate missing or different?
You can get a free cost estimate before you book, and you may also see one while you book. The estimate is not your final invoice. We build it from the limited information your insurance shares with us, so it can be missing or different from what you owe. See Understanding your insurance benefits and what you might owe.
