Lost or Stolen Medications

Here's what to do if your medication is lost or has been stolen.

Updated over a week ago

Losing your medication or having it stolen can be stressful. This article outlines the steps to take depending on the type of medication involved.

Non-Controlled Medications

For non-controlled medications (e.g., antibiotics, blood pressure medications) reach out to your Patient Care Advocate (PCA) team either via the in-app chat or web portal. Please explain your situation and ask for guidance on next steps.

A Patient Care Advocate will review your request and may ask clarifying questions before forwarding it to your provider. Depending on your case, your provider may require an appointment before issuing a replacement.

Controlled Substances

Controlled substances (such as stimulants or some gender-affirming hormone therapies) are subject to stricter regulations due to their higher risk for misuse or dependence.

In line with our Controlled Substance Agreement, there are limited options for replacing a lost or stolen controlled substance medication. An appointment with your provider is required to discuss the situation.

To book an appointment:

  • Use the Circle Medical app or web portal

  • Tap "Book Appointment"

  • Select "Video Appointment" (or "Standard Appointment" if available in your area and you'd prefer to be seen in person

  • In the Reason for visit field, enter: "Lost (or stolen) medication"

✅ Keeping Medication Safe

  • Store medications in a secure place, such as a locked cabinet or drawer

  • Don't share your medication with others

  • Monitor your medication use and take note any discrepancies

  • Properly dispose of unused or expired medications
