Picking up your medication is a key part of your treatment plan. To make the best use of your time, we recommend calling your pharmacy before arriving to ensure your prescription was received, and to ask for an estimate of when your medication will be ready for pick-up.
Pharmacy delays can happen due to pharmacy closures, insurance changes, or medication shortages. Identifying the reason for a delay helps your Care Team support you in getting your prescription filled.
Steps to take if your medication isn’t ready
Ask the pharmacist for details: Ask exactly why your medication isn’t ready. This information helps our team assist you faster.
Contact your Care Team: Reach out via the 'Chat' feature in your Circle Medical app or web portal and tell your Care Team what the pharmacist said so we can take the next steps.
Note: Resolution times vary based on the medication type and your state's regulations.
Common reasons for pharmacy delays
Inventory status: The pharmacy may be awaiting a restock of your medication.
Pharmacy verification: Some pharmacies perform an additional verification for tele-health prescriptions.
Early refill: Pharmacies typically won’t fill your next prescription until your current supply is completely finished, they make this determination based on the exact day supply of your previous medication fill.
Insurance review: Your insurance may be processing a prior authorization or reviewing coverage for your specific medication.
Processing time: The pharmacy may still be preparing the order sent by your provider.
Tips to prevent pharmacy delays
Contact your pharmacy in advance: Call your pharmacy to confirm your prescription is ready before you leave home.
Check your insurance coverage: If your insurance changes, verify that it still covers your medication.
Verify contracted pharmacies: If you use home delivery services like Birdi, Express Scripts, or Optum Rx, confirm they are contracted with your insurance first.
Plan: Give yourself extra time for refills to avoid stress during medication shortages.
