Understanding Your Laboratory Results

What to expect after your lab results are complete.

Updated over 3 months ago

Receiving lab results can sometimes be an overwhelming experience, but it's an essential part of managing your health. Our goal is to ensure you're well-informed about this process to make it as easy as possible.

After your provider orders tests, your samples are collected by our lab technicians or by a lab technician at Labcorp or Quest Diagnostics. They are then sent for analysis. Typically, results are received within 7 to 10 business days after sample collection. However, the time it takes varies depending on the tests ordered; some more specific tests require a longer analysis and can take up to a few weeks to result. Our team works diligently to provide them promptly and can assist in navigating this. If you have NOT received a lab result notification after 10 business days, please reach out via the chat feature of the app or website.

If you have completed the lab test with an outside lab (not LabCorp or Quest Diagnostics), it's very important that you verify that the results are sent to us.

You or the lab facility can send the results through our HIPAA-compliant and secure email ([email protected]) or fax at (888) 803-3331.

Reviewing Your Results

When your results are ready, they are sent by the laboratory facility and shared with you and your healthcare provider. A dedicated team will review your results within 24 hours. We flag any out-of-range values and have them reviewed by covering providers.

The Circle Medical provider who ordered the lab tests will also review the results, typically within 3-5 days. Once reviewed and interpreted, you will be informed of the summary and any specific recommendations or advice. To have a more detailed conversation with your provider, you can schedule a follow-up appointment at your convenience.

Please note: Your Circle Medical Provider may recommend a follow-up appointment to discuss your lab results in more detail and to discuss next steps.

You can have access to your results, as soon as they are available, in the “All files” section of your Secure Care Inbox. If you are unable to access the results, please reach out via chat for assistance.

Taking Action

In some cases, abnormal results may indicate a need for further testing or treatment adjustments. If you experience symptoms or are worried about any aspects of your lab testing, we recommend you schedule a follow-up appointment with your provider. Your provider will guide you through the next steps and address any concerns, questions, or clarifications during the appointment.
