How referrals work at Circle Medical

What to expect when your provider submits a referral for you.

Sometimes you'll need care from a specialist or another service. This can include getting a referral for care such as: imaging, dermatology, physical therapy, or gastroenterology.

When that happens, your provider will send a referral and our support team will help you get connected with a suitable facility. Here's what to expect.

Step 1: Your provider places a referral

When discussing your health needs during an appointment, your provider may decide that you need a referral for care outside of Circle Medical. They'll place a referral order for you, and our support team takes it from there.

Step 2: The support team finds you a facility

Our support team looks for a facility that:

  • Is near the home address listed on your account

  • Accepts your insurance

  • Offers the care your provider ordered

The support team aims to process referrals within 48 hours, but it may take a little longer during busy periods. You'll receive an update in your Secure Care Inbox and a chat in your mobile app or web portal from the support team.

Tip: Keep your address and insurance details up to date so the support team can find the right facility for you.

Step 3: Get the details in the app or web portal

Once we've found a suitable facility, the support team sends you a message in the Circle Medical app or web portal. It includes the facility's location, contact details, and anything else you need to know.

Step 4: Schedule your appointment

Contact the facility to schedule your appointment or procedure. Then, attend it at the location specified in your referral details.

Step 5: Your provider gets an update

After your appointment, the facility will send an update to your Circle Medical provider. If you need follow-up care, your provider will help with next steps.

Questions about your referral? Start a chat in the app or web portal to connect with the support team.
