Sleep Studies

Learn more about the process of our at-home sleep studies.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

If you're struggling with sleep disorders like sleep apnea, insomnia, or narcolepsy, you don't have to visit a clinic for a diagnosis. Our DOT-approved, at-home sleep studies let you meet with a provider via video and get an FDA-approved sleep study from the comfort of your own home. It's fast, convenient, and accurate. Read on to learn more about how it works and what you can expect.

Please note: You must use the mobile app in order to confirm delivery details for at-home sleep tests.

Step 1: Intake & analysis

Once you select a provider and book a Sleep Video Appointment, your provider will assess your symptoms and medical history, and may order an at-home sleep study to gather better understand your sleep health.

Cost with insurance: $0-150†

Self-pay cost for Sleep Video Appointment: $120

Step 2: At-home sleep study

Participating in an at-home sleep study has never been easier. After receiving a sleep-monitoring device from Wesper, here's what you can expect:

  • The device consists of two patches that you stick onto your body (one on the abdomen and the other at your ribs) and a pulse oximeter that you wear on your index finger like a ring, secured by a wrist strap

  • Download the Wesper app and follow the setup instructions provided

  • Sleep (in your own bed!) and perform a two-night sleep study

  • Your data will automatically be sent for review. Sleep study results will be analyzed by a board-certified sleep specialist who will determine if you are at risk for, or are experiencing any sleep disorders, and who will then create an individualized treatment plan based on your results and medical history

  • Then, the sleep specialist will send your sleep study results and personalized treatment plan to your Circle Medical provider to review.

Important notes:

You have 30 days to complete the test and return the device to avoid potential charges.

It typically takes about 48-72 business hours after a patient tests for results to be reviewed. Even though you may have done two nights of studies using a Wesper device, a single comprehensive report is prepared.

  • The sleep specialist reviews the data from both nights and chooses the one that offers the most accurate and actionable insights.

  • While the comprehensive analysis is limited to the selected night, patients can still access general data for both nights, including total sleep time and stages, snoring and breathing patterns, and sleep positions and movements, through the Wesper app.

  • This data provides insights into variations between the nights, even if only one night's data appears in the final report. Additionally, patients can access their sleep study results in two ways:

  1. Wesper App: Offers charts and metrics for all nights in the study to help understand overall sleep quality and patterns.

  2. Health Provider Follow-Up: In follow-up appointments, providers discuss the detailed report, insights, and necessary actions based on findings.

Cost with insurance: $0-250†

Self-pay cost for Wesper Sleep Study: $250

Step 3: Treatment

How we determine what treatment is right for you

Based on the results of your sleep study and other relevant health factors, your provider will recommend one or a combination of the following treatment options and paths:

  • Behavior modification

Many sleep disorders can be treated by modifying sleep habits, improving sleep hygiene, losing weight, changes in frequency and intensity in exercise, breath work, reducing alcohol consumption, smoking cessation, and other changes.

  • CPAP machine or equivalent

In cases where a sleep study reveals a diagnosis of sleep apnea, a common sleep disorder, the typical treatment is the use of a CPAP machine or similar device to help regulate a patient's breathing while they sleep.

Available only with a prescription, CPAP machines have continued to evolve along with other medical technology, and have become easier than ever to use. Your provider will be able to recommend and prescribe a CPAP device that is most compatible with your lifestyle. This can be covered by most insurance plans.

  • Medication

If your sleep study reveals a sleep disorder that is best treated by medication, Circle Medical providers can make an appropriate diagnosis and prescribe medications that can alleviate or relieve symptoms.

Circle Medical is able to offer accessible and high-quality care from Primary Care Providers who are qualified to treat a wide range of conditions, and integrate your care into your overall health plan. Co-pay costs may vary and will depend on your individual insurance plan. Contact your insurer directly to verify coverage and eligibility.
