Requesting medication refills

Learn how to request refills for your prescription.

Updated yesterday

The refill process depends on whether your medication is a controlled or non-controlled substance. Knowing what to expect helps you maintain your treatment plan with ease.

Non-Controlled Substances

For non-controlled substances (for chronic conditions such as blood pressure medications, diabetes medications, or allergy medications), you can request a refill through the Circle Medical app or web portal.

How to request a refill for a non-controlled substance:

  1. Open the Circle Medical app or web portal.

  2. Send a message through the chat feature with:

    • Medication name

    • Dosage

    • Pharmacy information

Your provider will review your request and may approve the refill without an appointment.

Please note: Refill requests are not guaranteed. Your provider may require additional information or an appointment before approving the refill.

Controlled Substances

For Schedule II controlled medications (such as many ADHD medications), Circle Medical requires a follow-up appointment every 30 days before issuing a refill. This policy supports safe prescribing and ongoing monitoring.

How to request a refill for a controlled substance:

  1. Open the Circle Medical app or web portal.

  2. Select Book Appointment.

  3. Choose your provider (we recommend staying with the same provider for continuity of care).

  4. During your appointment, discuss your medication needs with your provider.

Your provider will review your treatment and, if appropriate, issue a new prescription to your preferred pharmacy.

Tips to keep in mind

  • Check your prescription status: Before visiting the pharmacy, contact them to confirm your prescription is ready for pickup.

  • Be aware of pharmacy restrictions: Controlled substances cannot be sent to CVS or Amazon Pharmacy. Confirm your pharmacy accepts controlled substance prescriptions from telehealth providers.

  • Stay with the same provider: Seeing the same provider whenever possible ensures continuity of care and helps your provider make informed decisions about your treatment.

  • Know that policies vary: Policies around controlled substances differ based on state regulations, insurance requirements, and pharmacy guidelines.
