Get help with sleep concerns

From your first appointment to treatment, here's how Circle Medical helps you get a sleep study.

If you're dealing with snoring, restless nights, or feeling tired during the day, a sleep study can help you find out what's going on. At Circle Medical, it starts with a video appointment. If a sleep study is right for you, your provider will refer you to a sleep facility, and our support team will help set it up.

Step 1: Book a 'Sleep appointment'

In the mobile app or web portal, select 'Sleep appointment' when booking.

During your appointment, you'll talk with your provider about your symptoms and medical history. You'll also fill out two short questionnaires:

  • STOP-BANG questionnaire: Completed during check-in, this helps assess your risk for sleep apnea.

  • Epworth Sleepiness Scale: Discussed during your appointment, this assesses how sleepy you feel during everyday activities.

Based on your answers and your conversation, your provider will decide if a sleep study is right for you. If it is, they'll order a referral for either an in-lab or at-home sleep study. Your provider will discuss next steps with you during your appointment.

Step 2: Circle Medical sends your referral

Our support team will find a sleep facility that:

  • Is near you

  • Accepts your insurance

  • Offers the type of sleep study your provider ordered

If there isn't a facility near you, the support team may send your referral to a virtual sleep study provider. When possible, we choose facilities that offer at-home sleep studies, have shorter wait times, and don't need you to have a separate consultation first.

Once we've chosen a facility, we'll fax your referral to them, and you'll find updates in your Secure Care Inbox.

Tip: Check your Circle Medical mobile app or web portal for updates.

The support team aims to process referrals within 48 hours, but it may take a little longer during busy periods.

Important note: Please contact your insurance directly to ask about sleep study costs and what your plan covers. Wondering what to ask your insurance? Check out our article on tips when calling your insurance.

Step 3: Treatment

Once your results are ready, you'll review them with your provider at your next appointment. Based on your results and overall health, your provider may recommend one or more of the following:

Lifestyle changes

Many sleep issues improve with changes to your daily habits. This might include a more consistent sleep routine regular exercise, weight loss, breathing exercises, drinking less alcohol, and/or quitting smoking.

CPAP machine or similar device

If you're diagnosed with sleep apnea, your provider may prescribe a CPAP machine or a similar device. It helps you breathe steadily while you sleep. Your provider can help you find a device that fits your lifestyle. Many insurance plans cover CPAP devices.

Medication

If medication is the best fit for your sleep condition, your provider can prescribe it to help manage your symptoms.
