What is Circle Medical's policy on prescribing controlled substances?
Certain medical conditions indicate the prescribing of controlled substances. These medications are highly regulated and require close monitoring by your provider.
When prescribing controlled substances, Circle Medical providers seek to identify the minimum effective dose and treatment period to attain the desired outcome.
Controlled substances may sometimes be prescribed on a recurring basis. In these cases, adherence to your treatment plan, which may include frequent appointments with your physician, will be required in order to grant refills of controlled substances. As compliance to a treatment plan is established, and at your physician's discretion, the time between appointments may be increased and some of them may be addressed via video. Appointments to discuss progress and process refills (in-person or via video) are billable office visits.
It is your responsibility to adhere to your treatment plan, including utilizing your medications as indicated. It is also your responsibility to request refills at least one week in advance of running out of medications so as to allow your care team adequate time to process the request.
The goal of all Circle Medical physicians is to provide safe and effective care. Please let them know if you have any questions regarding this policy.
